NORTON ARMOURIES ABOUT US WE ARE THE UK'S LEADING MAKER OF POLYEURATHANE ARMOUR AND PROPS Founded in 2000, we have worked on some of the most iconic film, tv and theatre productions of our time, such as Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Dune, and Gladiator. On site we have several workshops, a modelling and moulding workshop, a modern industrial processing plant where we produce our polyurethane armour, costume and props as well as full assembly, painting and finishing facilities. Manned by our team of highly skilled and dedicated craftsmen, each possesses the knowledge gained from years in the industry. This combination of facilities and staff allows us to manage every aspect of production from start to finish, ensuring that we can produce the best each and every time, whether it be a one-off piece for a principle character or outfitting an entire army. Starting out working within re-enactment, he has developed these skills to the highest level, producing armour for the biggest films and shows in the world. Manager JARROD Jarrod manages the workshop as well as handling the running of the business. Jarrod is also the primary Polyurethane Sprayer, casting out tens of thousands of pieces of armour in his years here. His favourite show he has worked on is House of the Dragon. Senior Armourer LUKE Luke possesses extensive knowledge of armour history and has the expertise to design custom pieces using both traditional and modern techniques, including 3D printing. One of his favourite projects to date is Dune. Office Manager NATALIE Natalie manages the office primarily, liaising with costume designers and suppliers alike. However, she is always on hand to support the workshop with creative projects and deadlines. Nat recently got engaged but apparently wont be wearing armour to the wedding... Hire Manager Hannah Hannah manages the hire side of our business and has recently began a full catalogue of all our armour... which is ever expanding. She enjoys helping with all aspects of the business when needed, especially patinating. Her goal is for Norton to become the go to for all things armour hire. Workshop Assistant SOL Sol works within our workshop doing anything from linishing to assembly. He most enjoyed making shields for Vikings: Valhalla. His lunch is always the envy of other staff! Workshop Assistant TOM Tom is another early bird here at Norton, working in all aspects of the workshop. He loves singing in the paint room when he's alone... although he thinks we don't hear him. He enjoyed working on the shields and horned helmets we recently produced for How to Train your Dragon. Workshop Assistant JED Jed is a veteran of Norton having originally joining the team in 2012. He has a wealth of knowledge and eye for detail. He also assists with the hiring of armour ensuring we stock the pieces our customers will love. Workshop Assistant CURTIS Curtis never fails to make the workplace fun with his infectious laugh! After recently joining the team he has proven his skills in the workshop as well as improving our social media with his occasional dressing up. Who do you make armour for? We make armour for Film, TV, AD campaigns, Fashion, Media, Theatre and Events. Occasionally we also open our books to private individuals - please keep an eye on our socials for announcements! What armour options are available to Productions? We offer several services for productions. 1. Hire Armour, Chainmail and Soft Costume - we have a huge hire barn you can hire from that features armour from every age. 2. We can make any armour for you from scratch. Full origination is our speciality, just let us know what you want! The completed armour is your to keep. 3. Made-To-Hire Armour. We make whatever armour you want, then when you are finished hiring it, the armour is returned to us. How do I put my armour on? We're working on creating a video guide, but in the meantime - please reach out and ask! How long can I hire for? As an individual you can hire armour for a couple of months via our website. For productions and longer hires, please get in touch where we will discuss your requirements and tailor the rental for you. How do I hire armour? What is the Hiring process? How does delivery and collection work? It's easy! Either checkout your items online by selecting your duration of hire or drop us an email at info@nortonarmouries.com to discuss any hire requirements. We will then simply arrange for the items to be delivered to you and an up front collection date sent where a lovely little courier will grab the armour from you. Do you have all of your armour on your website? Hire Armour - We plan to have all of our armour available for hire on our website. Armour for Purchase - we have thousands more moulds of armour that aren't on our website, so please get in touch and we can work out what will work best for your project. Do you have costumes to go underneath armour? We have a selection of 'soft costumes' and chainmail that is available to hire. Please get in touch for details. What size is your armour? Do you have armour for women? XL armour? Children's size armour? We have armour to suit everyone. To find the right armour for you, please get in touch with your measurements so we can show you what will give you the most comfortable fit, or make you something bespoke. Our armour naturally has a bit of flex (we also offer a very flexible armour if you want it for stunts ect), and most pieces have adjustable straps, so you will have a bit of wiggle room to cinch it in or let it out. Can I hire armour from films? Maybe some... Armour available for hire is all listed in our Hire Catalogue, if you can't find what you want, get in touch. Although we have been lucky enough to work on a colossal number of productions, we don't stock everything. What are the terms and conditions of Hiring armour? COSTUME & PROP HIRE AGREEMENT • By entering into a costume & prop hire agreement, customers are fully accepting the Terms and Conditions of hire. • We will endeavour to ensure your hire items are with you at the beginning of your hire period, however it will be accepted by the hirer that any delays relating to delivery companies will not be the responsibility of Norton Armouries Film Ltd. • Full payment is expected prior to delivery. With every quotation we provide the option to insure the items whilst they are in transit with our courier. Should the items be lost/stolen/destroyed in the period they are being handled by the courier the hirer understands that they will be liable for the replacement cost of each item (including labour and materials) if they have chosen NOT to take out the quoted insurance. The hirer will be responsible for any damage incurred in transit due to the goods being incorrectly or inadequately packaged by the hirer. • We must be notified within 48 hours of the hire start date of any changes required and can arrange an exchange if deemed appropriate. • All costumes and props must be returned on or before their due date by the hirer. • The costumes and props will remain the responsibility of the Hirer until returned in full working order to Norton Armouries Film Ltdʼs Premises. • All costumes/props remain the property of Norton Armouries Film Ltd whilst on hire. • We accept no responsibility for injury, death or damage to a third party or the wearer of one of our costumes/props. We do not make or give any warranty as to the equipmentʼs quality of fitness for the Hirers purpose. • If any part of the costume/prop is to be used in a manner that is inconsistent to its intended use, the hirer must advise Norton Armouries Film prior to accepting the terms of the Hire Agreement. For example, if an actor is required to fall to his knees, please advise us before hiring a hard set of armour. • Any costumes/props on hire from Norton Armouries Film Ltd must not be loaned or hired by a third party from the hirer. Any attempt to copy or reproduce any costume/prop on hire or sent as a sample from Norton Armouries Film Ltd is strictly prohibited and a breach of Copyright Law. • No alterations are allowed to any costume/prop without the prior written consent of Norton Armouries Film. Attaching sticky labels, badges or tape of any kind to any part of the costume/prop is prohibited. • Any damage incurred due to alteration, misuse, personal hygiene, adaptation or cutting of costumes or props will be charged for cost of repair or replacement (including labour cost). • Credit to Norton Armouries Film Ltd as ʻCostumierʼ or ʻCostumes Supplied Byʼ must be given on all production literature. • We are responsible for cleaning and checking costumes/props on return. Any marks not removed by cleaning or damage beyond acceptable wear and tear will be charged to the customer, including full cost of material and labour. • If costumes or props are lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged the Hirer will immediately give the Owner notice and Rental fees will continue to be billed to the Hirer at the quoted monthly rate until such time as the Owner is fully re-imbursed with the value of the goods as per this schedule. The Hirer will be treated as having repudiated this agreement if the Hirer fails to pay on the relevant due date any monthly Rental or other sum due under this Agreement and fails for more than 7 days after a request from the Owner to remedy any other breach of this agreement. • The agreement will terminate automatically, and the Owner may (by lawfully entering upon the Hirers premises and repossessing the Equipment or otherwise) at any time if the Hirer repudiates this Agreement. • Upon any termination of this Agreement the Hirer will immediately pay to What are your opening hours? That depends on the project, there are so many variables! Generally, the more complex and unique your project is, the more time it will take. We are taking orders from Film and TV productions as well as Theatres, media companies and ADs. However all personal orders to the public are currently closed.
